BoldSign or Signeasy: the short answer
Both services do the core job well: you upload a PDF or Word file, place signature and date fields, send it by email and get back a signed document with an audit trail. Your signers pay nothing on either. They differ in how they price and where they fit.
- Choose BoldSign if price matters most. It is the only one of the two with a free plan (1 user, 25 envelopes a month, 2 templates), its paid plans start at $5 per user a month billed yearly, its Business plan sends unlimited envelopes for $15 per user a month billed yearly, and its developer API starts at $30 a month.
- Choose Signeasy if you want signing inside the tools you already use: Gmail, Google Drive, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and HubSpot. Business sends unlimited contracts for $20 per seat a month billed yearly, it adds AI key-term extraction, and yearly plans come with a 100-day money-back guarantee, while BoldSign says all fees are non-refundable.
How to choose e-signature software: what we compared
Every price and limit below comes from the official pricing and terms pages, read on 29 October 2026, in US dollars. These are the criteria that change the bill or the daily workflow:
- Price per user and billing period. Both sell per user (seat) and both discount yearly billing heavily, so we quote yearly prices and give the monthly price alongside.
- Sending limit. E-signature plans are capped by envelopes (one envelope = one or more documents sent together for signature) or by contracts sent. A cap of 5 a month is fine for a freelancer and useless for a sales team.
- Free plan or trial. A free plan lets you keep using the service at no cost; a trial only lets you test it. Check whether a card is needed.
- Refunds. Yearly plans save money but lock you in, so the refund rule matters before you commit.
- Integrations. If your contracts start in Gmail, Outlook, HubSpot or Salesforce, native integration saves clicks every day.
- Identity checks and compliance. ID verification, SMS codes, HIPAA or FDA 21 CFR Part 11 often cost extra or need a higher plan.
- API. If you want to embed signing in your own app, compare the API plans separately: they are priced differently from the apps.

Prices side by side, and how they compare with DocuSign
Plans per user (seat) per month, from the official pricing pages:
| BoldSign | Signeasy | |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Essential: $0, 1 user, 25 envelopes/month | No free plan; 14-day trial |
| Entry paid plan | Growth: $5 yearly, $15 monthly, 50 envelopes/month per user | Personal: $10 yearly, $15 monthly, 5 contracts sent/month |
| Unlimited sending | Business: $15 yearly, $25 monthly | Business: $20 yearly, $30 monthly |
| Next tier | Premium: $99/month yearly ($138 monthly) for unlimited users, 250 envelopes/month | Business Pro: $30 yearly, $40 monthly |
| Large teams | Custom quote for high volume | Build Your Plan: 5+ seats, custom |
| API | From $30/month, 40 envelopes, then $0.75 each | Free sandbox, 100 requests; from $125/month billed yearly for 1,000 |
For a team of three on yearly billing, unlimited sending costs $45 a month on BoldSign Business and $60 a month on Signeasy Business. BoldSign Growth covers the same team for $15 a month if 150 envelopes a month (50 per user, pooled) is enough.
For reference, DocuSign, which we do not cover with a review, lists on its own pricing page Personal at $11 a month (5 envelopes a month), Standard at $30 per user a month and Business Pro at $45 per user a month, all on annual plans, with Standard and Business Pro capped at 100 envelopes per user per year. So both alternatives here cost less per user, and both offer unlimited sending at a price below DocuSign Standard.
BoldSign: free plan, low per-user price and a cheap API
BoldSign is made by Syncfusion, Inc., a software company in Morrisville, North Carolina. It has a web app, Android and iOS apps and a REST API.
The BoldSign pricing page lists the free Essential plan with 1 user, 25 envelopes a month and 2 templates. It already includes an audit trail, signer authentication, automatic reminders, automatic field detection, custom branding and the mobile apps. One catch: if you sign up with a personal email address (such as Gmail), you get 5 envelopes a month until you verify business details. Paid plans have a 30-day free trial without a credit card.
- Growth ($5 per user a month yearly, $15 monthly): 50 envelopes a month per user shared across the account, 10 templates, template sharing, in-person signing and team management.
- Business ($15 yearly, $25 monthly): unlimited envelopes and templates, SSO, custom roles, AI field detection, scheduled send, IP restrictions, a HubSpot integration and HIPAA on annual plans with a signed BAA.
- Premium ($99 a month yearly, $138 monthly): unlimited users with 250 envelopes a month, then $0.50 per envelope.
- Non-profits get Growth free and 50% off Business and Premium.
Extras are billed per use: bulk send $0.25 per envelope, SMS delivery $0.20, WhatsApp delivery $0.10, ID verification $2, knowledge-based authentication $1.50 and qualified electronic signatures (QES) $3 per signing attempt. Salesforce costs $10 per user a month on Business.

The downside: BoldSign's terms say all fees are non-refundable, and plans renew automatically until you cancel. Use the 30-day trial to decide before you pay. Full details are in our BoldSign review.
Signeasy: e-signatures inside Gmail, Outlook and Teams
Signeasy is built for people who send contracts from the apps they already work in. You can sign and send from Gmail, Google Drive, Docs and Sheets, from Outlook, Teams and SharePoint, and from HubSpot, as well as from the web and iPhone, iPad and Android apps. Signers need no account.
The Signeasy pricing page lists three plans per seat, with a 14-day free trial and no credit card needed:
- Personal ($10 a month yearly, $15 monthly): unlimited signing of your own documents, but only 5 contracts sent for signature a month.
- Business ($20 yearly, $30 monthly): unlimited sending, shared templates, reminders, an admin dashboard, AI key-term extraction and contract summaries, two-factor login and 24/7 email support.
- Business Pro ($30 yearly, $40 monthly): roles and permissions, usage tracking, requests for supporting documents from signers, two-factor authentication for signers, SharePoint and HubSpot, approval workflows and priority support.
- Build Your Plan for 5+ seats or high volume adds SSO, HIPAA, SMS, bulk send and FDA 21 CFR Part 11; these are quoted on request.

The strongest point for a cautious buyer is the 100-day money-back guarantee on yearly Personal, Business and Business Pro plans. After 100 days there are no partial refunds.
The downside: there is no free plan, Personal sends only 5 contracts a month, and SSO, bulk send and SMS need a custom plan. Full details are in our Signeasy review.
Which one fits you
- Freelancer sending a few contracts a month: BoldSign Essential is free for 25 envelopes a month (after you verify business details if you used a personal email). Signeasy Personal costs $10 a month yearly and sends 5.
- Small team on a budget: BoldSign Growth at $5 per user a month yearly, if 50 envelopes per user a month is enough; Business at $15 if not.
- Sales or HR team working in Gmail, Outlook or HubSpot: Signeasy Business or Business Pro, for the native add-ins and approval workflows.
- Unsure, need a safety net on a yearly plan: Signeasy, thanks to its 100-day money-back guarantee; BoldSign fees are non-refundable.
- Many occasional senders in one company: BoldSign Premium gives unlimited users for $99 a month yearly, sharing 250 envelopes a month.
- Developers embedding signing in an app: BoldSign's Enterprise API starts at $30 a month for 40 envelopes; Signeasy's paid API starts at $125 a month billed yearly for 1,000 requests. Both have a free sandbox.
- Regulated industries: both offer HIPAA (BoldSign on annual Business plans with a BAA, Signeasy as a custom add-on). Signeasy also lists FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and BoldSign lists qualified electronic signatures (QES) for the EU.
Legal validity, security and compliance
Both services say their signatures are legally binding under the US ESIGN Act and the EU eIDAS regulation, and Signeasy also names UETA. Both list SOC 2, GDPR and HIPAA compliance; BoldSign adds PCI DSS and AES-256 encryption, and Signeasy adds a tamper-proof trust seal on every completed document.
For most contracts, offers, NDAs and invoices a standard electronic signature with an audit trail is enough. Where the law requires a higher level, such as a qualified electronic signature in the EU, check that the plan supports it: BoldSign sells QES as a $3 add-on, and Signeasy's pricing page does not list it.
Before you pay: trials, refunds and renewals
- Start free. BoldSign gives a free plan plus a 30-day trial of paid plans; Signeasy gives a 14-day trial. Neither asks for a card.
- Refunds. Signeasy refunds yearly plans within 100 days; BoldSign fees are non-refundable.
- Renewal. Both renew automatically until you cancel; on Signeasy the plan stays active to the end of the paid period.
- Availability. BoldSign's terms bar use in US-embargoed countries.
