Gamivo review: a game key marketplace, its SMART plan and buyer protection

What is Gamivo?

Gamivo is a marketplace, not a publisher's store. Registered business sellers list keys, and Gamivo provides the platform, payments and support. Its terms describe a dropshipping model, and every product page says the company "is not affiliated with Product Owner and all products come from independent sellers."

What you can buy:

• Game keys and DLCs for Steam, EA App, Ubisoft Connect, Battle.net and other platforms.
• Gift cards for gaming, shopping, food and streaming services.
• Subscriptions and software such as operating systems, office and antivirus.
• Direct in-game top-ups and pre-orders of upcoming games.

Everything is digital: the key appears in your account, usually within a few minutes of payment. Some payment methods can take a few hours, and an order can be put on "hold" for security checks.

How buying works, and the key-reseller risks

Each product page lists several sellers. You see the price, the seller's rating and sales count, and a link to the seller's own terms. The page also checks whether the key can be activated in your country and shows the platform, region and languages.

Price tags need a second look. On the page above, the lowest regular offer was €22.01, while €18.27 was the price for SMART subscribers.

Risks to understand before you buy:

• Keys come from third-party sellers, not the publisher. If a key is invalid or stops working later, your route is the seller and Gamivo's complaint process, not Steam or the publisher.
• Region and platform locks. A key for another region or platform may not activate for you. Mac versions are sold only when the page says so.
• The 14-day withdrawal right ends once you display the key. You can return an undisplayed key within 14 days, subject to the seller's terms. A displayed key counts as delivered, though you can still complain if it's defective or not as described.
• Identity checks. Gamivo may ask for an ID document for anti-money-laundering checks and can refuse or close an account if you don't provide it within 5 days.

Buyer protection: what you get with and without CPP

Without extra payment, you can report a defective, non-working or incorrectly described product through Gamivo Support. Gamivo helps you deal with the seller, and if you can't agree you can bring Gamivo into the dispute 72 hours after opening the complaint. Your legal consumer rights still apply.

The Customer Protection Program (CPP) is an optional paid add-on, priced per product and ticked on the payment page. With it, Gamivo itself commits to a replacement key, or a refund if no replacement is possible. For consumers Gamivo promises a response within 14 days and a refund within 7 days of a positive decision.

One catch: a CPP refund may go to your Gamivo balance rather than your card when the payment method doesn't allow refunds. Balance can only be spent on Gamivo, cannot be withdrawn and expires after 730 days.

Members get CPP on every order at no extra charge, 24/7 live chat, a subscriber coupon usable 3 times a month, daily discounts up to 20% and monthly discounts up to 10% on selected games, pre-order priority, giveaways, and a free game after the third month. It renews automatically; after cancelling, benefits last until the end of the paid period.

Verdict

Gamivo suits PC players who compare prices and accept marketplace rules: check the region, pick highly rated sellers, keep keys undisplayed until you activate them, and weigh CPP or SMART for expensive purchases.
