Aviasales: find cheap flights across airlines and agencies in one search

What you get with Aviasales

Aviasales is a flight metasearch engine that has been running since 2007. In its own words: "We don't sell tickets – we just help find the cheapest ones. Totally free."

• Many sellers in one list. Results combine fares from airlines and agencies; Aviasales' Russian site says it covers 2,000+ airlines and flights to 193 countries.
• The full picture on every ticket. Each result shows the price, dates, airports, number of layovers, flight times and baggage allowance. Icons flag long and overnight layovers.
• Filters that save money. Filter by baggage, number and length of layovers, departure and arrival times, airports and airlines, and sort by price or popularity.
• Fare rules before you click. Opening a ticket shows the flight conditions and exchange/refund rules supplied by the seller.
• Low-price calendar and map to spot the cheapest days and destinations.
• Price-drop alerts in the iOS and Android apps, which can also follow fares across one or several months.
• Multi-city routes and a Hotels tab for the rest of the trip.

Who Aviasales is for

• Budget travellers who want the lowest fare and don't mind buying from an agency rather than the airline.
• Flexible-date planners. The low-price calendar and the app's price schedule help when you can shift your trip by a few days.
• Carry-on-only or heavy-luggage flyers. The baggage filter keeps fares without the allowance you need out of your way.
• Patient bargain hunters who set an alert on a route and book when the price drops.
• Multi-stop trips that would be tedious to price airline by airline.

Prefer one company from search to boarding? Booking directly with the airline is simpler.

What Aviasales costs

Searching on Aviasales is free. Its terms grant access "free of charge", and its help centre says it does not charge a commission and shows the exact prices quoted by airlines and agencies.

Check the total on the seller's checkout page, including baggage, seat and payment charges, before you pay.

Why choose Aviasales

Compared with checking airline sites one at a time, Aviasales puts airline and agency fares in one list, so you can see whether an agency undercuts the carrier on the same flight. Unlike a single online travel agency, it is not limited to one seller's inventory. And because the search is free, comparing costs you only a few minutes. The filters are where it pays off: hide fares without your baggage or with an overnight layover, and the cheapest price you see is one you would actually accept.

Good to know before you book

• You buy from the seller, not Aviasales. Payment, the e-ticket, refunds, exchanges and name changes are handled by the airline or agency named on your receipt.
• Double-check the price at checkout. Aviasales' terms say it does not guarantee the accuracy of the data it displays; the seller's checkout price is the one that counts.
• Operator. The international site is run by Giant Travel Unicorn Two Limited, a Hong Kong company, under Hong Kong law. Users must be of legal age in their country.
• Home market. Aviasales is best known in Russia and the CIS through aviasales.ru; our link opens the English aviasales.com.
