What is Airalo?

Airalo is a travel eSIM store run by AirGSM Pte Ltd, a company registered in Singapore. Instead of buying a physical SIM card at the airport, you buy a data package online and install it on your phone as an eSIM. Airalo says it covers 200+ locations with three kinds of package:

• Local eSIMs for a single country.
• Regional eSIMs for groups of countries such as Europe, Asia or Latin America. The Europe eSIM covers 41 countries.
• Global eSIMs for trips across many regions.

Both fixed-data and unlimited packages are available, and you manage them in the iOS and Android apps or on the website. Validity starts when the eSIM first connects at your destination, so you can buy before you travel.

Who it's for

Airalo suits travellers who want mobile data abroad without home-carrier roaming charges or a trip to a local SIM shop. Your home SIM stays in the phone for calls and texts, and the Airalo eSIM handles data.

Before buying, check:

• Your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM. Airalo's terms require this, and the help center has a compatibility list.
• The plan type. Many Airalo eSIMs are data-only. Plans labelled "Data, Voice & Text" include calls and SMS.
• Identity checks. Some countries require eKYC verification before purchase. In that case you upload a document such as a passport (sometimes an address) to a third-party provider. Do this before you leave.

Pricing at a glance

Prices depend on the destination, data amount and number of days. On the homepage, the most popular countries start at €4.00 and Egypt starts at €5.50. Unlimited-data packages cost more, for example:

Referral program terms

Airalo's Refer and earn page sets out the refer-a-friend program:

• The new customer gets €3.00 off their first purchase when they sign up with a referral code. Airalo's blog says the code can be entered at sign-up or at checkout.
• The referrer gets €3.00 in Airmoney, Airalo's in-app credit, once the friend makes that first purchase. Airmoney can be spent on eSIMs and top-ups.
• There is no limit on how many friends you can refer, but only friends who buy count.
• You may not get the referral discount if you have already used other Airalo promotions.

Airalo affiliate program

Separate from refer-a-friend, the Airalo affiliate program is for travel bloggers, creators, comparison sites and apps. It pays a standard 10% commission on the final sale value after discounts. You apply through a form, and approval takes a few days. Payouts are made on the 28th of the following month, with a $15 minimum, by bank transfer or PayPal (PayPal adds a 2% fee).

Refunds and cancellations

Airalo's terms give a 14-day withdrawal right from purchase, which ends early once the eSIM is activated. If an activated eSIM does not work because of an Airalo issue, report it within 30 days. Airalo then has 10 days to fix it before a replacement or refund is due.

Eligible orders show a Request Refund button under My eSIMs or Profile > Orders. Refunds for "Wrong purchase" or "Plans changed" are paid in Airmoney only, and expired or fully used eSIMs are not eligible.
