How to get started

  1. Sign out of PacketStream, then open it through the referral link on this page; the referral is stored in a cookie for 60 days.
  2. Create a new account in the same browser without clearing cookies.
  3. Add balance by credit card or PayPal; the minimum purchase is $50 at $1.00/GB.
  4. Copy your auth key and connect to proxy.packetstream.io (HTTPS on port 31111, SOCKS5 on 31113, HTTP on 31112).
  5. Add a country code or sticky session label to the auth key if your task needs a fixed location or IP.

What is PacketStream?

PacketStream Inc. runs a residential proxy network built on peer-to-peer sharing. Volunteers called Packeters share unused bandwidth through a desktop app, and customers exit from those real household connections through one gateway.

  • Gateway: proxy.packetstream.io with username/password authentication. HTTPS on port 31111 is recommended; SOCKS5 runs on 31113 and HTTP on 31112.
  • Rotation: an exit is chosen for each new connection; a new connection is not guaranteed a different IP.
  • Sticky sessions: append _session-<label> to the auth key. Sessions have a 60-minute inactivity timeout and fail if the Packeter behind them disconnects.
  • Country targeting: append a two-letter ISO code (for example country-US). If no exit is available there, the request fails instead of falling back. The locations page lists 30 countries; city targeting is not described.
  • No SDK needed: examples cover cURL, Python, Node.js, Go, Java, PHP, Ruby and Rust.

PacketStream does not publish a pool size.

Who it's for

PacketStream suits developers and small teams who want residential IPs without a monthly plan, for scraping, price monitoring or checking how a site looks from another country. The flat rate and non-expiring balance fit irregular workloads.

It is less suited to tasks needing city-level targeting or long-lived IPs. Resellers can use the Reseller API: white-label access from $1.00/GB with a $500 minimum.

PacketStream referral and affiliate programs

PacketStream runs two separate programs:

  • Customer referral (any account holder): every account gets a referral link. The referrer earns 10% of each qualifying deposit a referred customer makes within 12 months, capped at $2,000 per customer. This is account credit, not cash: it can only be spent on PacketStream and stays pending for 30 days. Only accounts created on or after October 27, 2026 count, and only card or PayPal deposits qualify.
  • Affiliate program (application required): approved affiliates earn 20% of PayPal or card deposits for 12 months, up to $2,000 per customer, in cash. Commission becomes available after 90 days, the payout minimum is $25, and payouts go to PayPal in USD with a 3% fee. Brand bidding, cookie stuffing and spam are prohibited.

Both use a 60-day cookie, the first stored referral code wins, and self-referrals earn nothing.

Earning as a Packeter and regional limits

Packeters earn $0.10 per GB shared, before fees. Cashouts start at $5, are paid weekly in USD via PayPal only, and carry a 3% fee plus any PayPal fees. Mobile sharing is not supported.

Because cash payouts (Packeter earnings and affiliate commission) go through PayPal, residents of countries PayPal does not serve, such as Russia, cannot cash out. Users must be at least 18; the terms describe no identity verification for customers.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a PacketStream referral code?

PacketStream uses referral links rather than codes you type. Opening the link on this page while signed out stores the referral in a cookie for 60 days, and the account you create in that browser is recorded as referred.

Is PacketStream legit?

PacketStream is operated by PacketStream Inc., its terms are governed by California law, and it publishes terms of service, a 24-hour refund policy and support contacts (help@packetstream.io, sales@packetstream.io). Its network relies on volunteers sharing home connections, so individual exits and sticky sessions can drop when a device goes offline.

How much does PacketStream cost?

$1.00 per GB of residential bandwidth, with a $50 minimum purchase and no subscription. The balance does not expire. Resellers pay from $1.00/GB with a $500 minimum.

Does PacketStream offer a free trial or refunds?

Trial credits can be requested through a form or by email, but approval and amount are at PacketStream's discretion. Refunds of the remaining balance are possible if you contact support within 24 hours of purchase.

How does the PacketStream referral program work?

Any account holder can share a referral link and earn 10% of referred customers' card or PayPal deposits for 12 months as non-withdrawable credit, up to $2,000 per customer. Approved affiliates earn 20% in cash under separate terms.
