What is CoinLedger?

CoinLedger is a crypto tax platform operated by Coin Ledger, Inc., based in Saint Louis, Missouri. It was previously known as CryptoTrader.Tax, and that name still appears in its terms.

What it covers:

  • Integrations: 1,000+ exchanges, wallets and blockchains, with API auto-sync, wallet address auto-sync, CSV and custom CSV import.
  • Assets: support for 20,000+ cryptocurrencies, including DeFi, NFT and margin trading activity.
  • Reports: IRS Form 8949, capital gains report, income report, audit trail report and international tax reports.
  • Cost basis methods: FIFO, LIFO, HIFO and Adjusted Cost.
  • Tools: error reconciliation, tax loss harvesting and free portfolio tracking.
  • Tax software import: TurboTax Online and Desktop, TaxAct, H&R Block Desktop and TaxSlayer. CoinLedger describes itself as an official TurboTax partner.

For people who do not want to do it themselves, CoinLedger also sells a Done For You tax service handled by experts, starting at $3,500.

Who it's for

CoinLedger is built for individual crypto investors and traders who need to report crypto gains and income. The homepage says it supports the US, UK, Canada, Australia and more, and it advertises support for German tax rules. US users get the most direct fit, since the core output is Form 8949 and the reports import into US tax software.

It makes most sense if you trade across several exchanges or wallets, or have DeFi or NFT activity. The free account lets you import data and preview reports before buying.

Pricing at a glance

Each tax report is a one-time purchase priced by the number of transactions in the tax year, not a subscription. Reports are available for any tax year from 2010 to 2025.

Plan Price Transactions
Free $0 Portfolio tracking only, no tax report download
Hobbyist $49 Up to 100
Investor $99 Up to 1,000
Pro $199+ Up to 3,000+

Above 3,000 transactions you buy extra capacity inside the app. All plans include customer support, unlimited wallet and exchange syncs, the 1,000+ integrations and portfolio tracking. Reports can be recalculated as often as you like at no extra cost. The 10% discount from our link applies to these report prices.

Refunds and limits to know

  • Refunds are conditional. The pricing page advertises a 14-day money-back guarantee, but the help center limits it: the request must come within 14 days of purchase, no tax reports may have been downloaded, and a verifiable bug or product limitation must prevent an accurate report. Trouble importing a report into tax filing software is not grounds for a refund unless support finds the export file is corrupted.
  • Age and accounts: you must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live), and the terms allow one account per person.
  • Not tax advice: the terms say CoinLedger's information is not a substitute for professional tax, legal or accounting advice.

CoinLedger affiliate program terms

Any CoinLedger user can join the refer-a-friend program from the account menu: Profile > Invite friends and Earn. That page shows your unique referral link and tracks referrals, earnings and balance. There is also a separate affiliate signup at the affiliate program page.

  • Commission: 25% recurring, for every year your referrals buy a tax report. It applies to the DIY tax software only; Done For You, Expert Review and Tax Prep services earn nothing.
  • Qualifying referral: the person must sign up and buy a tax report.
  • Cookie: 15 days from the first visit through your link.
  • Referred users get 10% off automatically at checkout.
  • Payout: minimum $30, paid by PayPal only. Commissions become payable 30 days after they are credited.
  • Not allowed: self-referrals, paid ads (paid search or paid social) with your link, and coupon or coupon-aggregator sites.

PayPal payouts are unavailable in some countries, including Russia.
