What is Cambly?

Cambly is a live tutoring service for spoken English. You set learning goals, and Cambly recommends lessons, topics and activities, then you practise with tutors on the website or mobile app, 24/7.

Besides open conversation, there are structured courses in speaking, professional (business) English, vocabulary, grammar, reading, discussion topics and exam preparation. You can build a "team" of favourite tutors. Cambly says its tutors are native English speakers, although the Small Groups description also mentions "other accents". Some of Cambly can be explored without a subscription.

Small Groups lessons are limited to adults aged 21 and over.

The final price depends on how many minutes per week and how long a commitment you choose; longer commitments come with a discount. When we checked, Cambly was running a Black Friday promotion at 50% off, showing $12, $28 and $40 per month for the three tiers. Promotions are temporary and come with their own terms, so check the price on the checkout page.

Refunds and cancellation

• 7-day money-back guarantee. Contact support within 7 days of the start date of your first Cambly plan for a full refund, even if you have taken lessons.
• Cancel any time, pay for days used. Cancelling a long-term plan early removes the commitment discount: used days are charged at the full monthly price and the rest is refunded. If that exceeds what you paid, there is no refund.
• Alternatives: pause for 1–4 weeks, downgrade, or turn off renewal.
• Bank installments: cancelling at Cambly may not stop installment charges set up by your bank; contact the bank.

Cambly referral program terms

Every Cambly student has a personal invitation link under Refer a friend in the menu under their profile picture, where they can also see which friends used it. The rules in Cambly's help center:

• The invited friend gets an additional 10 minutes after purchasing a trial.
• The referrer gets 60 minutes of lesson time when the friend subscribes to Private+ or Pro.
• The friend must never have had a Cambly account, must use the link when creating the account, and must subscribe.
• Rewards are lesson minutes, not cash.
• The program is not available in all regions. Cambly does not publish the list, so the bonus may not appear in some countries.
