What is Buzzsprout?

Buzzsprout is a podcast host run by Higher Pixels, a team based in Jacksonville, Florida, that has been helping people launch podcasts since 2009. You upload episodes once and Buzzsprout handles the rest:

  • Distribution – listing in Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music, Audible, iHeartRadio, Podcast Index, Overcast, Pocket Casts and more. Video episodes go to Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube on video plans.
  • Podcast website – an SEO-friendly site with transcripts and support for a custom domain, plus embeddable players.
  • Statistics – audio and video analytics with bot filtering; Buzzsprout states its stats are IAB 2.2 certified.
  • Transcripts – generated automatically for new episodes on all current paid plans at no extra cost and included in the RSS feed.
  • Monetization – listener subscriptions, listener support payments, Buzzsprout Ads and Dynamic Content.
  • Add-ons – Magic Mastering (automatic audio cleanup) and Cohost AI (titles, descriptions, chapter markers, blog and social posts).

Who it's for

Buzzsprout suits independent podcasters who want hosting, distribution and a website in one place. The free plan is for testing an idea, Audio fits a typical weekly show, Audio + Video adds video for YouTube and Spotify, and Multi-Podcast covers 5 or 10 shows. Paid plans include unlimited team members, and existing shows can be migrated from another host.

Buzzsprout pricing at a glance

Buzzsprout bills by upload hours (the length of the episodes you add), not by storage or downloads. Prices below are the ones shown on the pricing page when billed annually; monthly billing is also available at a higher rate.

Plan Price (billed annually) Upload allowance Notes
Free $0 2 hours per month Episodes hosted for 90 days; no add-ons or video
Audio $15/month 72 hours per year One podcast, unlimited episodes
Audio + Video $25/month 72 hours per year Video to Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube at 1080p
Multi-Podcast $30/month 180 hours per year, shared 5 or 10 podcasts, audio or audio + video
Archive $5/month No new uploads Keeps an existing show live

Unused hours do not roll over. If you upload more than your plan includes, you can keep publishing and the extra time is billed at your plan's hourly rate on the next invoice. Add-on prices depend on your plan.

Referral bonus and affiliate terms

Buzzsprout runs one refer-a-friend program for all users; the link is under Settings > My Profile > Refer a Friend.

  • New podcaster: a $20 credit when they upgrade to a paid plan.
  • Referrer: $20 per referred account that upgrades and has been charged for two months, cashed out via PayPal from Settings > Wallet.
  • Tracking: works on any Buzzsprout URL; attribution cookies do not expire.
  • Rules: no self-referrals, paid ads, coupon sites, promotion in Buzzsprout's own social pages or groups, or claims of exclusive discounts. Affiliate accounts expire without a login every six months.

Billing, refunds and limits

  • Billing: plans are billed in advance for each month or year. The terms say there are no refunds or credits for partial months, and refer to a separate "refunds done right" policy for refund requests.
  • Cancellation: done from your account menu; email or phone requests do not count. Cancelling deletes the account and all of its content immediately, so download your files first.
  • Free plan: episodes stay online for 90 days only.
  • Age: you must be 18 or older to use the service.

Buzzsprout does not publish country restrictions for podcasters.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Buzzsprout promo code or referral code?

Buzzsprout uses referral links rather than codes you type. The link on this page carries a referrer ID, and when you upgrade to a paid plan your account gets a $20 credit. Buzzsprout does not offer other exclusive discounts through referrals.

Is Buzzsprout legit?

Buzzsprout is operated by Higher Pixels, a team in Jacksonville, Florida, and has hosted podcasts since 2009. It publishes terms of service, a privacy policy and a help center, and support is by email (support@buzzsprout.com). One caveat: billing is in advance with no refunds for partial months, and cancelling deletes your content right away.

How much does Buzzsprout cost?

Free with 2 upload hours per month (episodes kept 90 days). Billed annually: Audio $15/month, Audio + Video $25/month, Multi-Podcast $30/month, Archive $5/month. Monthly billing costs more.

When do I get the $20 Buzzsprout credit?

When you upgrade from the free plan to any paid plan. Sign up through the referral link first so the referrer ID is recorded before you upgrade.

How does the Buzzsprout referral program work?

Every user gets a link under Settings > My Profile > Refer a Friend. The referrer earns $20 after the referred podcaster upgrades and has paid for two months, cashed out via PayPal. Self-referrals, paid ads and coupon sites are banned.
