What is Cypherock X1?
Cypherock X1 is a hardware wallet sold by HODL TECH PTE LTD under the Cypherock brand and, per its FAQ, manufactured in India.
Instead of a 24-word seed phrase on paper, X1 uses Shamir's Secret Sharing to split the private key into 5 shards: one in the X1 Vault (the device) and four on X1 Cards (NFC cards). Any 2 of the 5 unlock the wallet. To sign, you tap a card on the vault and verify the transaction in the cySync app.

What happens if you lose a card or the vault?
- Vault lost or broken: any 2 of the 4 cards restore your wallets onto a new vault.
- One card lost: funds stay accessible with the vault plus one card, or two cards. Cypherock recommends replacing the full card set, since new wallets cannot be added without all 4 cards.
- Seed phrase: no paper backup needed, but X1 can display a wallet's seed phrase with the vault and one card.
The flip side: anyone holding 2 shards can open the wallet, so keep the cards in separate, secure places.
Pricing, shipping and import duties
At the time of writing the Cypherock homepage listed the X1 at $149 (shown as reduced from $199) and said there are no hidden fees beyond the network fee. The store also sells the cheaper Cypherock X0 at $39.

US Standard is shipped DDP, so duties and taxes are included. On US Express and other routes, duties and import charges are paid by the recipient, and if a parcel is refused over unpaid charges the shipping cost is not refunded.
